Juneteenth is a celebration of emancipation from slavery and freedom for slaves in Galveston, Texas. Although we were “emancipated”, freedom for African Americans remains elusive. In some parts of the country, jogging can cost you your life. Driving while black can get you stopped, ticketed, and/or more. For African Americans, freedom costs and we must continue to fight for it.
In this vein, my fight is to share credible and reliable information. Information is power. The more informed we are, the more we can make informed decisions and choices that I hope can make positive changes in our quest for freedom, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The following resources provide an overview of Juneteenth. Please feel free to check them out!
